Design and Technology

West Moors Middle School 298Design and Technology is taught to all pupils. They are involved in resistant materials, food technology and textile projects, working in specialist areas. These projects may require them to work individually, in small groups or sometimes as a whole class.

The children undertake research, make design proposals and use the appropriate materials, equipment and processes in order to realise their final products. They learn to evaluate their own and others’ work (including other designers), suggesting or making changes as necessary.

Throughout years 5 to 8, where possible and appropriate, use is made of computers with the aid of word processors, art/graphics packages, spreadsheet/nutrition analysis and control packages.
